It’s been a while since we’ve posted anything here, and there’s a good reason. We’ve been busy. After our initial launch last spring we gained substantial understanding about our product and even more about the way people are trying to use their mobile devices to find information.
The operative word there … is “trying”. Because the truth is that while smartphones generally are awesome, containing more firepower in a pocket-sized package than some of the biggest computers that were first created, smartphones haven’t really made us all that much smarter.
We started thinking. What if that changed? Imagine a world where you had everything you needed handed to you exactly when you needed it. Wouldn’t that be amazing?
Yeah. We thought so too.
So back to the drawing board we went, building on the foundation of our learning from our alpha version (which included feedback from folks like you) and crafting an entirely new solution. Now, after a couple months of hammering on the product in our labs and with a small group of testers, we are opening the gates and introducing the beta of our new product and our new name to the public.
Yes, we have changed too.
With that, allow us to introduce you to …

It’s about empowerment. It’s about speed. It’s about giving you everything you need, wherever you are; and we’re calling the product … you guessed it … Everything.me TM.
We’ve opened up the doors to the beta of the product and would love for you to check it out. It’s a proper beta, you know the old fashioned kind where you expose a product to people, then engage with that community for feedback/input, and then iterate, iterate, iterate.
So get ready to check out Everything.me — an entirely new approach to mobile search that instantly gives you everything you need as an app.
By “instantly” we mean immediately, like right away, before you get old.
By “everything” we mean, everything: songs, movies, restaurants, weather. You name it!
By “as an app” we mean it works like an app, not like Google on your phone.
And if you clicked that link up there, you’ll see that you have to check it out on your mobile phone. It is, after all, a mobile search engine so that makes sense, right?
We’ll be launching a new blog shortly, and in the mean time here are the key things you need to know:
- For good measure, here’s another link where you can check out the beta of Everything.me
- You can follow us on Twitter, where we’ll be communicating about product development and giving insights on our progress.
- You can connect with us on Facebook, which is where we’ll really engage with the community to get feedback.
Still here?
What are you waiting for?
Go get Everything … it’s all you need.

Pivot.
It’s a horribly overused word in the tech realm, especially since so many who use it don’t necessarily know what they mean. Are they talking about an evolution and adaptation of a product – something that is de rigueur for any business (especially a start-up) as it enters a market and begins to grow? Or are they talking about a fundamental functional change in how a business operates, which can include everything from an entirely new target audience to fundamental changes in business models and more.
The latter, that is a pivot.
The former, that’s just good start-up sense.
No matter how genius an idea, no matter how well something sounds and then looks in the petri dish of early testing – you never really know how things will be once you toss that product into the wild. Never. Okay, you may have a pretty solid idea based on calculated risk and experience, but people are people and they are notoriously unpredictable.
The last several months have been remarkable for us. It began with the spectacular experience of launching at TechCrunch Disrupt NYC in May, an experience which included a boatload of coverage, our being selected as one of six companies from the overall field of 30+ to participate in the finals and taking home the Bing Choice Award. Since then we have been cranking on a all cylinders. Amazing user feedback and some great learning (including some interesting shifts in the market) are all leading towards our preparation to make more waves.
In the mean time, though, it felt apropos to provide a bit more context as to the inception point where the idea for DoAT was born – that moment when co-founder Ami Ben David realized that there was a market ready for disruption.
The tectonic shift came for Ami when he was in his previous job heading operations for Oberon Media – acting as the central distributor across Europe and Asia for mobile games. In what was almost an overnight shift, the entire industry was shattered by first by Facebook opening its platform and then by the Apple App Store. The previously closed, centralized paradigm was ripped apart, and nothing was the same again. In seeing this happen not once, but twice, Ami realized that if one can go to an industry where there is a central distributor and provide an open platform the innovation of the masses will open the market up to even greater, exponential growth.
This is when the idea for the first iteration of DoAT was born – pulling down the current construct of a single player, which is becoming even more and more centralized and in fact now competing on a content front with the very businesses it purports to support. Suddenly it’s not just about search. Now it’s about reviews, maps, weather. They control the horizontal and the vertical – a ripe scenario for disruption.
So hang on to your hats …

We’re unveiling something pretty damn cool at this weekend’s TechCrunch Disrupt Hackathon in San Francisco. It’s Touchy, our brand new boilerplate to help developers kick ass in mobile web app creation. It’s an open platform for rapid mobile web app development, and we’ll be unveiling at officially during our workshop session at the Hackathon on Saturday, September 10 at 4pm Pacific time.
Here’s the really cool part – in addition to your getting to learn about this from our CTO and Co-Founder Joey Simhon and get a chance to kick start some kick ass web apps, you also will have a chance to win a pretty cool prize. The team that creates the best location aware mobile web app on Touchy will win …
iPhone5s!
Yep! As soon as those babies are available, the winning team will be getting their very own*
So check out our boilerplate (if the page isn’t live when you get there, just give us your email address as we’re polishing the edges and will email you in the next 24 hours regardless! Of course we will want the ability to host the winning app on their platform. Oh, and mashups are welcome.
*Up to three units for the winning team.
